Client Driver Volunteer
Shelter clients rely on The Retreat to provide transportation to much-needed appointments including at doctors’ offices, the Riverhead court, shopping centers, and visitations with their children. The Retreat provides a vehicle for volunteers to transport clients to these appointments. When children need to be transported, they will always be accompanied by their guardian.
Translation Services
You can provide document translation. Services are frequently needed in Spanish, Creole and many Russian dialects, though other languages are sometimes required. These opportunities are usually completed via email and on the volunteer’s own time.
Speaker’s Bureau Volunteer
Interested in letting people know more about The Retreat? Love to speak to groups? You can be trained to lead special events and workshops that educate the community about healthy relationships and the resources The Retreat has to offer.

Organize Shelter Donations
Organize Shelter Donations at The Retreat The Retreat’s Stephanie House Shelter regularly receives donations of clothing, toys, and toiletries. Volunteers are needed to sort through donations and store them in the designated closets and storage areas for use by staff and clients.
