Pro Bono Legal Services

Location

Remote, Riverhead

Job Summary

Pro bono attorneys make it possible to serve many more individuals than we would be able to on our own. They play a central role in our legal services. Pro bono legal opportunities are not generally available to individuals but very much in need. Is your company or firm interested in getting involved with our pro bono work? Call Retreat Staff Attorney Susan Bereche or Executive Director (and former Judge) Loretta K. Davis, at (631)329-4398.

Responsibilities

Use your own supplies or those provided by The Retreat to write notes that will be delivered to our clients.

Things to know before becoming a volunteer

When your volunteer application is received, the Volunteer Coordinator will contact you about attending an orientation session. All new volunteers must attend this orientation.
In order to ensure the safety and security of our clients and staff, all positions working directly with clients or in our residential shelter require fingerprinting and a background check.
Volunteers who are interested in being trained to answer the 24-hour hotline must commit to a regular volunteer schedule of at least six months and complete in-person training during The Retreat’s regular office hours.
You must have your own transportation if attending Retreat events or coming to any of The Retreat’s physical locations.
