Volunteer Committee

Location

East Hampton, Bridgehampton, Riverhead, Hauppauge, Remote

Job Summary

Volunteers are vital to The Retreat. As a member of the Volunteer Committee, you will help us reach more individuals in our community and create innovative ways for more volunteers to assist us in our work.

Responsibilities

The Volunteer Committee, which includes both staff members from The Retreat and non-staff volunteers, meets monthly. Committee members work independently on projects and collaboratively with individual staff members to help meet the needs of individual departments. Volunteer needs can change depending on the time of year and program objectives. The Committee will work to assess the needs of the organization and create new ways to reach potential volunteers.

Things to know before becoming a volunteer

All volunteers must attend a Volunteer Orientation program.

In order to ensure the safety and security of our clients and staff, all positions working directly with clients or in our residential shelter require fingerprinting and a background check.

Volunteers who are interested in being trained to answer the 24-hour hotline must commit to a regular volunteer schedule of at least six months and complete in-person training during The Retreat’s regular office hours.

You must have your own transportation to The Retreat.
