We have exciting news to share: New York Road Runners (NYRR), the nonprofit that runs New York City, has officially named The Retreat a Charity Partner of the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon, taking place Sunday, November 1.

The Retreat is now assembling a team of runners dedicated to going the distance for adult and child survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking across Long Island.

This year’s marathon is no ordinary race. The 2026 event celebrates the 50th anniversary of the iconic five-borough course, first run in 1976. And NYRR is marking the milestone in a big way by expanding its Official Charity Partner Program to include more than 670 charities, the most in the program’s history, with a goal of raising more than $100 million.

A Race That Makes History

The TCS New York City Marathon is one of the most inclusive sporting events on the planet — more than 55,000 athletes run the same course on the same day, from the first finisher to the final. Charity runners alone raised a record $80 million across more than 600 causes, a 14% increase over 2024. Since the Official Charity Partner Program launched in 2006, it has raised nearly $700 million for more than 1,000 nonprofits worldwide.

Running for Survivors

The Retreat is a safe haven for families in crisis, providing free, comprehensive services including emergency shelter, a 24-hour crisis hotline, trauma-informed counseling, legal advocacy, community outreach, support programs for fathers, and prevention education aimed at breaking the cycle of violence.

Every mile run on November 1 is a step forward for the survivors and families we serve and a powerful reminder that no one has to face this journey alone. We are excited to cheer on our team!
