Education Ambassadors, The Retreat’s Roving Diplomats

Job Summary

Education Ambassadors are knowledgeable and conversant about The Retreat’s core programs and, for select opportunities, have comfort in speaking before a group; travel  to various program sites is needed for some activities and those volunteers must have their own transportation.  


Ongoing projects and tasks include:

  • Attend (and test out) community trainings online and in person
  • Promote social media posts:  share, tag, link, etc.
  • Develop and lead community awareness projects
  • Research and build contact lists for mailings/email
  • Promote special events
  • Manage outreach tables at community workshops and volunteer at events
  • Facilitate Teen Leadership meetings 
  • Organizing outreach materials and assemble folders for distribution to healthcare providers, religious organizations, police and town administrations across the East End and Riverhead
  • Hang flyers at schools, libraries and businesses

Things to know before becoming a volunteer

When your volunteer application is received, the Volunteer Coordinator will contact you about attending an orientation session. All new volunteers must attend this orientation.

You must have your own transportation if attending Retreat events or coming to any of The Retreat’s physical locations.
