Para muchas personas, el inicio de la pandemia de COVID fue el comienzo de un periodo marcado por el aislamiento y la independencia forzosa. La gente estaba separada y aislada de los dem\u00e1s y de sus redes de apoyo como nunca antes lo hab\u00eda estado, y lo ir\u00f3nico es que era un momento en el que la gente necesitaba m\u00e1s que nunca la ayuda de los dem\u00e1s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fue una \u00e9poca oscura para muchos, y hubo un alivio palpable cuando pas\u00f3 al retrovisor. Pero, por supuesto, tambi\u00e9n hubo aspectos positivos y lecciones aprendidas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uno de ellos, en particular, fue conmovedor para los l\u00edderes de siete organizaciones locales sin \u00e1nimo de lucro, que durante ese tiempo hicieron un descubrimiento sencillo pero crucial: que siempre estamos mejor juntos que separados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Esa es la premisa subyacente del East End Fund for Children, una coalici\u00f3n de siete organizaciones con ideas afines que, de distintas maneras, atienden a ni\u00f1os y familias necesitadas del East End.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La organizaci\u00f3n es una idea original de Dan Shedrick y se cre\u00f3 en 2020 para atender las necesidades de los miembros m\u00e1s vulnerables de la comunidad durante la actual crisis de COVID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Ha sido una experiencia maravillosa\", afirma Bonnie Cannon, directora ejecutiva del Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center. \"No podemos hacer esto solos. Juntos somos mejores, y eso vale para todo. Estamos mejor juntos como comunidad, sin esta divisi\u00f3n entre razas y todo ese tipo de cosas\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shedrick ha seguido siendo una fuerza importante y en\u00e9rgica para el fondo. Ayud\u00f3 a conseguir la implicaci\u00f3n y el apoyo de Joe Gurrera, propietario de Citarella, que ha sido un donante y partidario enormemente importante del fondo. El fondo tambi\u00e9n recibi\u00f3 un gran impulso de la Iglesia Ortodoxa Griega de la Dormici\u00f3n de la Virgen Mar\u00eda de los Hamptons, en Shinnecock Hills. El East End Fund for Children fue el homenajeado en la gala anual de verano de la iglesia, y cada una de las siete organizaciones recibi\u00f3 $10.000 en financiaci\u00f3n de la iglesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
