Esta es la decisi\u00f3n que experimentan cada d\u00eda muchas supervivientes de la violencia dom\u00e9stica. Los autores de la violencia dom\u00e9stica tienden a utilizar la violencia para obtener el control y el poder sobre su pareja. Adem\u00e1s del abuso f\u00edsico, esto incluye a menudo el abuso econ\u00f3mico y el aislamiento de los amigos, la familia y la red de apoyo. Cuando se produce el abuso econ\u00f3mico, las supervivientes tienen muy poco acceso al dinero, a las tarjetas de cr\u00e9dito y a las cuentas bancarias, y a menudo se enfrentan a la dif\u00edcil decisi\u00f3n de quedarse a vivir con el agresor o arriesgarse a quedarse sin hogar por falta de recursos para vivir por su cuenta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En El Retiro, hemos visto a muchos supervivientes y a sus familias llegar a nuestro refugio en mitad de la noche sin nada m\u00e1s que la ropa que llevan puesta. Adem\u00e1s de vestirles, proporcionarles comida y un lugar seguro para dormir, tambi\u00e9n les proporcionamos servicios esenciales para que superen el trauma del abuso. Eso incluye asesoramiento para las supervivientes y sus hijos, defensa legal para ayudarlas a navegar por el sistema judicial y obtener \u00f3rdenes de protecci\u00f3n, as\u00ed como clases de finanzas personales para ayudarlas a hacerse cargo de su futuro econ\u00f3mico. Sin embargo, \u00bfqu\u00e9 ocurre si alguien que sufre abusos no llega a un refugio seguro como The Retreat?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Muchos de ellos se quedan sin hogar y las estad\u00edsticas son asombrosas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al examinar las causas de la falta de hogar entre las madres con hijos, varios estudios han descubierto que m\u00e1s del 80% hab\u00edan sufrido previamente violencia dom\u00e9stica.  Sin embargo, cuando se profundiza en el tema, hasta el 57% de las mujeres sin hogar citaron la violencia dom\u00e9stica como el <strong>inmediatamente<\/strong> causa de su desamparo. Esto significa que hu\u00edan de una relaci\u00f3n abusiva y acabaron sin hogar, ya sea en la calle o en un refugio para personas sin hogar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lamentablemente, a menudo no hay suficientes camas en los centros de acogida de violencia dom\u00e9stica para acoger a todas las supervivientes de los abusos. Seg\u00fan <a href=\"http:\/\/www.endhomelessness.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.endhomelessness.org<\/a>\"En una sola noche de 2019, los proveedores de servicios para personas sin hogar ten\u00edan m\u00e1s de 48.000 camas reservadas para los supervivientes de la violencia dom\u00e9stica\".  Aunque los refugios para personas sin hogar pueden proporcionar seguridad a las familias, es posible que no proporcionen todos los servicios necesarios para que estas familias superen el trauma al que han sobrevivido en sus situaciones de vida previamente abusivas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Retiro es un lugar ideal para que los supervivientes busquen ayuda y superen el trauma del abuso.  Sin embargo, \u00bfqu\u00e9 ocurre con los supervivientes una vez que salen de nuestro refugio si no tienen un hogar al que puedan volver? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La falta de vivienda est\u00e1 causada por muchos factores, pero despu\u00e9s de la pandemia, las tasas han aumentado significativamente en las zonas urbanas por muchas razones. Tambi\u00e9n lo han hecho los \u00edndices de violencia dom\u00e9stica causados por el estr\u00e9s de la pandemia y las \u00f3rdenes de encierro que pretenden ayudar a detener la propagaci\u00f3n de Covid-19, pero que podr\u00edan aumentar el riesgo de violencia. Una cosa es cierta: la violencia dom\u00e9stica y la falta de vivienda est\u00e1n entrelazadas. Si conseguimos romper el ciclo de los malos tratos, tambi\u00e9n podremos reducir las tasas de personas sin hogar, especialmente entre las mujeres. Esto no podr\u00eda ser m\u00e1s cierto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>El Retiro <a href=\"https:\/\/allagainstabuse.org\/es\/get-help\/seek-shelter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">refugio residencial<\/a> proporciona alojamiento de emergencia para un m\u00e1ximo de 18 adultos y ni\u00f1os.
