Esas palabras me aterraron; mi hermoso y tierno hijo pensaba que eso era normal. Si no fuera por mi hijo, nunca me habr\u00eda embarcado en el viaje de dos a\u00f1os para dejar a mi marido de 38 a\u00f1os. \u00c9l fue la raz\u00f3n por la que finalmente acud\u00ed al m\u00e9dico despu\u00e9s de haber sido maltratada f\u00edsicamente. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Comparto mi historia porque el silencio perpet\u00faa los mitos que rodean la violencia dom\u00e9stica: qu\u00e9 es, c\u00f3mo es, a qui\u00e9n le ocurre.  He aqu\u00ed algunas verdades sobre la violencia dom\u00e9stica que he aprendido a lo largo del camino. No importa qui\u00e9n seas, tu aspecto, tu raza o etnia, tu estado civil, tu educaci\u00f3n, tu cuenta bancaria, tu trabajo, tu g\u00e9nero, tu orientaci\u00f3n sexual, tu edad, tu religi\u00f3n o tu pol\u00edtica. Soy enfermera y cre\u00eda saber algo sobre la violencia dom\u00e9stica. No ten\u00eda ni idea y tampoco mi familia ni mis amigos.  Un buen amigo de la familia, realmente conmocionado por la revelaci\u00f3n de la violencia en nuestro hogar, se esforz\u00f3 por comprender y se disculp\u00f3 antes de preguntar: \"\u00bfQu\u00e9 parte de esto es culpa tuya?\" <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00bfQu\u00e9 parte de ser golpeado poseo? Sentimos que nos merecemos el maltrato, que lo provocamos, que si fu\u00e9ramos mejores personas o hici\u00e9ramos lo correcto, no ocurrir\u00eda.  Sentimos verg\u00fcenza, miedo, negaci\u00f3n, duda, incredulidad, culpa.  Este viaje requer\u00eda fuerza, esperanza y coraje; El Retiro fue inestimable para m\u00ed a la hora de desarrollar esas cualidades. Pude poner todo sobre su mesa: mis experiencias, mis pensamientos, mi miedo y mis sentimientos de verg\u00fcenza y culpa.  All\u00ed, sobre esa mesa, pod\u00eda sacudirlo, hurgarlo, diseccionarlo hasta que pudiera ponerle nombre, entenderlo, aceptarlo y afrontarlo.  No se juzgaba, s\u00f3lo se aceptaba y comprend\u00eda, se orientaba suavemente, se educaba y se afirmaba. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No estoy loca, no merezco ser humillada, ridiculizada, menospreciada, empujada, golpeada.
