\u00bfQu\u00e9 es un blog, en realidad? Me he ofrecido a escribir esto para El Retiro, \u00a1y no s\u00e9 lo que estoy haciendo! As\u00ed que me limitar\u00e9 a recordar un poco. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He participado en el Retiro durante muchas d\u00e9cadas, empezando por un almuerzo en agosto de 2000 en lo que entonces era el Club de Tenis Amagansett Eastside. Despu\u00e9s de sentarse en el Jitney junto a uno de nuestros maravillosos recaudadores de fondos, Susi Wunch concibi\u00f3 la idea. Esta organizaci\u00f3n, que ahora se llama Sportime, sigue apoyando generosamente a The Retreat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

La querida y difunta miembro de la Junta Nancy Cohn y su marido Myron donaron entonces un nuevo parque infantil. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Todav\u00eda puedo sentir la emoci\u00f3n de cambiar las camas, mover los muebles, e imaginar la felicidad que sentir\u00edan los clientes del refugio con algo de brillo en sus vidas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Como psic\u00f3loga, hab\u00eda trabajado en entornos cl\u00ednicos con muchos supervivientes de abusos. Sin embargo, el d\u00eda que arreglamos el refugio y trabajamos juntos para llevar un poco de alegr\u00eda a las vidas de estas familias fue un d\u00eda que cambi\u00f3 mi vida. Eran madres que met\u00edan a sus hijos en camas hechas con s\u00e1banas frescas y bonitas. Ve\u00edan sonrisas de j\u00fabilo y alegr\u00eda en los rostros de sus hijos cuando corr\u00edan fuera para columpiarse y trepar por el nuevo y emocionante patio de recreo. Instalarse en una vivienda lejos de casa era m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil gracias a los electrodom\u00e9sticos y las herramientas que hac\u00edan que las tareas familiares diarias fueran menos pesadas. Tener una vivienda segura y confortable fue el primer paso hacia una nueva vida. As\u00ed que, supongo que para m\u00ed escribo este blog como un recuerdo, pero en El Retiro, cada nuevo d\u00eda es otro paso, un nuevo comienzo...
